The Face Shop Acne Solution Foam Cleanser Review
Hey! So I haven’t really updated my site because of work and time. I will do a life update soon! Anyway, I wanted my first official review to be on a Korean product. I moved to Denver in August and I was happy to learn there a Face Shop in Aurora by the Hmart. Super Convenient! I went there because I needed a new cleanser.
My Skin Type
So before I get into my review I want to talk about my skin. I have extremely oily skin. It makes me absolutely miserable. My skin gets so shiny when I wear makeup and my pores are the size of craters! I don’t get “acne breakouts” but I get ingrown hairs and razor burn. Most of my scarring and hyperpigmentation are caused by this. I only shave when I am going to wear makeup or if I’m going to work. My skin is also very sensitive and is easily irritated. Prior to purchasing this product, I was using Shea Moisture African Black Soap and Burt’s Bees Acne Solutions Pore Refining Scrub. My skin was pretty clear but neither did anything to help with the oiliness. So I decided to try something new. The girl at the store recommended this product.
Packaging
The packaging is very simple and clean, nothing too special. The Face Shop has very cute packaging for a lot of their products, so this might be disappointing if that’s what you’re expecting. I don’t need to go into too much detail because I posted pictures of the product. It is very nice that the label has the directions and list of ingredients in English as well, for those of you who can’t read Korean. I appreciate the simplicity of the design. It comes in a 150ml tube that is easy to use.
Ingredients
Water, Myristic Acid, Glycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, PEG-75, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Camellia Sinesis Leaf Extract(Green Tea Extract), Salicylic Acid*, Poloxamer 184, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol.
I bolded the ingredients that may be of concern and put an “*” next to the ingredients I like. Just because they are bolded, doe not mean they are horrible. I use to sites like the EWG Skin Deep Database and Paula’s Choice to research specific ingredients. These sites are only for informational purposes and do not necessarily represent accurate scientific facts. There are products and ingredients that the EWG classifies as unsafe, that are fine. Most of the ingredients bolded are possible allergens or irritants. I’m not a huge fan of products with Fragrance, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they are bad. I like ingredients with Salicylic Acid because it helps with acne/oily skin, but it is listed as an irritant. I also like that the product has Green Tea Extract, it has a lot of beneficial properties. In my opinion, the ingredients in this cleanser shouldn’t be of any concern unless you have a known allergy to one of them. If you have any concerns you should consult a dermatologist.
Pros:
Dispenses easily
Does not overly dry skin
Has light pleasant scent
Easy to dispense
You only need a small amount for a good lather
Thick consistency
Non-irritating
Decent Ingredients

Inexpensive
Cons:
Ineffective in treating acne
Ineffective in helping with oily skin
Contains fragrance and other irritants
Irritating if used after shaving
Review
I really really wanted to love this product. I looked at reviews for it and a lot of people seem to like it. It has a slight scent but it doesn’t bother me. It reminds me of a Shiseido cleanser I used to use. I have been using it daily for the last 2 or 3 weeks and I haven’t seen any improvement in my skin. My skin is still oily and I still have some acne and ingrown hairs. On the other hand, my skin has not gotten worse because of this product. I have been getting more ingrown hairs, but I am sure that is more of a problem with my razor. If you shave, I would not recommend using this after because it burns! I started using it after I remove my makeup at night and I stopped having that problem. The product is thick and you only need a very small amount. If you have acne, severely oily skin, or ingrown hairs, this is probably not a good product for you. If you have slightly oily skin this would be a perfect daily cleanser! I am going to keep using until I’m done but I will not be purchasing it again. I know that some products take time to be completely effective so I will update this later on. I’m giving this product a 2.5. It didn’t improve my skin but it didn’t hurt it. It cleans your skin and that’s it. I’m including a link so you can purchase it and try it for yourself. Yes, it is an affiliate link and you will be supporting me if you use that link. You don’t have to, it is up to you. You can also buy the product from The Face Shop. I have no affiliation with The Face Shop. If you have any questions about the product or anything else, comment below or contact me directly through social media.
